Rinaldi and Leardini Claim Victory at 2nd L’Etape Parma

In a thrilling display of endurance and skill, Marco Rinaldi of PIGARELLA MULTISPORT and Elisa Leardini of MG.K VIS-OLMO-PROMOTECH emerged as champions at the 2nd L’Etape Parma, held last Sunday

Rinaldi, riding in front of his hometown supporters, completed the challenging 134km course with 2700m of climbing in an impressive time of 3:44:04, while Leardini secured her victory in the women’s category with a solo finish of 4:25:42.

Rinaldi, 31, who finished third in last year's event, demonstrated his dominance throughout the race. With a decisive solo effort, he crossed the finish line with his arms raised in celebration, marking a two-minute lead over his closest competitors. Giuseppe Orlando and Ivan Martinelli engaged in a fierce battle for second place, both finishing with a time of 3:46:14, with Orlando taking the spot by a narrow margin.

“I’m thrilled to win in my hometown,” Rinaldi said after the race. “The support from my neighbors and friends gave me the extra motivation I needed to push through the tough climbs. This victory means a lot to me, and I’m looking forward to competing in the L’Etape du Tour.”

In the women’s race, 29-year-old Leardini showcased her strength and strategy, finishing four minutes ahead of her nearest rivals. Ilaria Lombardo claimed second place with a time of 4:29:42, while Lisa De Cesare rounded out the podium in third with a finish time of 4:30:10.

“I’m incredibly happy with my performance today,” Leardini expressed. “The course was challenging, but I felt strong throughout. I’m excited to represent my team and country in the upcoming L’Etape du Tour.”

The 2nd L’Etape Parma attracted over 1200 riders

The 2nd L’Etape Parma attracted over 1200 riders, all vying for a coveted spot in the prestigious L’Etape du Tour championship race, scheduled for July 20 in Albertville, France. The event is part of the Tour de France amateur gran fondo series, offering cyclists of all levels an opportunity to experience a taste of the iconic race.

The atmosphere during the event was electric, with local fans lining the route to cheer on the participants. The camaraderie among cyclists and the support from the community highlighted the spirit of the race, making it a memorable experience for all involved.
